Today We'd Like to Introduce you to VanN Demand

Hi VanN, thanks for joining us today. We’d love for you to start by introducing yourself.

It all started back when 2006 when I was in high school… That’s when I decided to pick up the microphone and say what I had to say. It was a time where lunchroom cyphers and desk & pen beats were most prevalent. That’s mainly what I was known for. But over the span of that year, things changed. With the tone and manner of my natural voice, I picked up freestyling more and more with each coming week. By the end of that school year, I had dropped a mixtape/EP project that got pretty popular as the days went on. I liked it… no scratch that. I loved it. That’s when I knew music was my passion. I heard that little voice in my head telling me “This is it! This is your destiny!” Fast forward to 2015, That’s when I dropped my first official album “Come Shop Wit Me.” Back then I was signed to Futuristic Records (which has since dissolved). I wasn’t business savvy. I seen the dollar signs, percentages, and notoriety and stopped thinking with my brain. Needless to say, that didn’t work out after releasing my second studio album “Full Schedule.” I fell into a rut. Do I wanna continue to rap? Do I not? Along with having a baby in the process, music and everything with it took a backseat. A LONG backseat, for many years actually.

Then I found some of my old songs going through an old desktop and BOOM! The spark I had for making music came back tenfold. I wanted to create music. I wanted to be heard. Dropped my third album “Let ‘Em have It!” independently, and that’s exactly what I did. I let the game know why it needed me. I let the street know what was up with me, and that I was sorry for the disappearing act. By then the live performances were picking up, and more and more people were starting to actively go listen to my music and watch the few music videos that were circulating around. But I wanted more. I wanted to create THE LABEL. The company that can cut the middle man out an do it all. I wanted to be that man. I became that man. December 28th, 2021, I started Level UP Entertainment… check the paperwork I’m legit over here. Plus, best believe we do it ALL over here. Come March the following year (2022) So far, I’ve signed two other artists (Snow Dog and TRoyal Muzik) and haven’t looked back since!

Alright, so let’s dig a little deeper into the story – has it been an easy path overall, and if not, what were the challenges you’ve had to overcome?

Smooth? Yeah… about as smooth as a bowl of Rocky Road ice cream! But no, it wasn’t smooth. Like I said, between having a baby and trying to balance on that thin line of having enough time to fulfill my creative need as well as trying to learn this thing called parenthood and being a husband, my stress levels have ALWAYS been through the roof! Not to mention suffering from chronic depression, autism, and bipolar-ism doesn’t help any situation at all. It also didn’t help that I didn’t have the best childhood/upbringing, but my parents did what they could when they could. I come from California. And NOT the pretty beaches and wonderful lifestyle that you see portrayed in movies and T.V. I’m telling one slip up and you outta here type stuff. The ugly stuff. The stuff that they don’t wanna hear about. Some of us made it, a lot of us didn’t. But I wouldn’t change anything. It ain’t over either. I go through trials and tribulations on a daily. A lot to do with my mental health, even more with this thing we call life. Days can be up and down, but I have a perfect record of seeing those bad days through. Bring it life! I’m ready for whatever you got for me!

As you know, we’re big fans of you and your work. For our readers who might not be as familiar what can you tell them about what you do?

Level UP. That’s what I do. I’m the owner/operator of the newest musical record label to come out of Pueblo, Colorado. I’m also an artist. A Rapper if you will and the front runner of the label. I management my so far (two) other artists that I signed, and produce, mix, master, shoot and edit music videos and projects, photo editor, live performer, businessman. I specialize in all that and have been able to make a name and income from doing just those things. On the musical side of things, I’m most known for my sound. Mainly vocal. There’s no question about who it is once my voice is heard on these records, and that’s what I give a BIG credit to when it comes to me doing features. I can rap. They all know that. I can triple time in speed, use quadruple entendres, the whole nine, but I excel in storytelling and stage performances. Even my choice of clothing styles is different than what people are used to seeing. I stand out in those ways. I have a completely different thought process than most when it comes to this business, and when I’m the topic of conversation, people know that. They understand that. And I can come to appreciate the fact that people ARE engaging with me and the team. I love the fact that I’m being reached out to for song features, and show performances. And I can’t say thank you enough to all of my “Vanndals!” Those are my fans, I call them Vanndals, and I am so proud of them and will tell them that I won’t let them down!

Can you tell us more about what you were like growing up?

I was a wild child. Inside and out. School wasn’t my thing. I was that class clown. My dad would really have to put in check and get me to understand how my actions then would really affect my actions as in adult. But I had to grow up FAST. My pops worked a lot of hours. He was moving up very quickly at the company he was working for. most of my adolescences was really me kinda “figuring it out” for myself. I had to get myself to school. I had to figure out what I was going to eat that night. I had to figure out how I was going to get to the meet-up spot with my friends, how I was going to get home that night. All that transitioned into the same questions as an adult. I just was more prepared than most kids my age at doing it. Me and my homie gotta place together within 3 weeks of just graduating high school. We thought we was grown. And we were to a certain degree. I had to do whatever it took to literally survive. That’s what contributed to my mentality about things today. That “I’ve done it this long with no help, I can do it myself” type thinking. But that goofy, fun-filled kid at heart in me never left. I’m a BIG advocator of video games. I own a lot myself in my personal collection, and thus why I chose to have a controller as the Level UP Entertainment insignia. It not only represents actually leveling UP in our entertainment and musical growth, but it’s my own way of saying “Hey… it’s OK to stop and have some fun to!” Outside of my family, music and video games are my passions. Been that way for as long as I can remember. Most of the people I know, know that I have an expansive collection of games that I’m very proud of. Rares, classics, popular, even brand new still in the plastic wrap! I have it all! It’s only getting bigger month by month! Whatever game someone THINKS they can beat me in, let’s play! I love a challenge… if they can bring me one! HAHA!
